About Us

Welcome. I, Susan Butterworth, your hostess, have lived here at 27 Brimmer St, on Beacon Hill, my entire adult life, raised two sons here and have been sharing my home with guests for over 20 years. Sharing my knowledge of Boston and interesting details of what it is like to live here, a completely different experience from most anywhere else, is what brings me great pleasure. Brought up in San Francisco and Paris, I've taught French and owned and operated a catering business as well as been involved in all sorts of civic and volunteer activities. I do my best to make my guests feel totally at home and even provide two sweet white dogs so they won't miss their own!

I make and serve breakfast in an elegant room overlooking the Charles river at an 1870 carved Normand table under a large chandelier from a French chateau. Breakfast is, of course, included, and the time is somewhat flexible.
